Spouses Educational Assistance Scholarship (SEAS)

SOA Scholarship Application Deadline: April 15, 2018.

SEAS Eligibility

    • Dependents that are continuing education students (currently enrolled in a degree program) of Armed Forces personnel assigned to Aviano AB.
      • Armed Forces personnel are defined as members currently serving on active duty in any branch of the United States Military. This includes members of the National Guard or Reserve Corps assigned to Aviano AB and on active duty orders at the time of application.
    • Dependents that are continuing education students of civilian personnel assigned to Aviano AB and retired military personnel are eligible.
    • If military member is deceased, applicant must provide proof of military benefits based on the family relationship to the deceased military member.
    • All applicants’ sponsors must reside within a 50-mile radius of Aviano AB.
    • Applicants must have a GPA of 3.0 or above on a 4.0 scale.
    • Applicants must be pursuing a technical, associate, undergraduate or graduate degree and must be actively enrolled in classes during the session dates as shown in the application paperwork.
    • Applicants are eligible for up to two session scholarships per year (year defined as June – May).
    • SOA members and their families are encouraged to apply, but will not receive any preferential treatment.

Scholarship Application

The SOA provides scholarships each term to family members of U.S. Military or DoD Civilian sponsors. Scholarships are provided for undergraduate and graduate students. The purpose of this scholarship program is to assist adult students in their pursuits of higher education.

High School Scholarship

The Aviano High School Scholarship Program

The High School Scholarships Application Deadlines are: April 12, 2018


The Spouses of Aviano offer four (4) categories of high school scholarships:

  1. The SOA Athletic Scholarship:  This scholarship is awarded to one (1) student who has demonstrated excellence in athletic involvement and academic achievement. One (1) scholarship is awarded in the amount of $1,500.
  2. The SOA Academic Merit Scholarship:  This scholarship is awarded to three (3) students who have demonstrated academic excellence.  One (1) scholarship is awarded in the amount of $2,500. Two (2) scholarships are awarded in the amount of $1,500 each.
  3. The SOA Alan Parkinson Memorial Scholarship:  This scholarship is awarded to one (1) student who has demonstrated a commitment to volunteering and community service.  The amount of the scholarship is $1,500.
  4. The SOA and Aviano Thrift Store Scholarship:  This scholarship is awarded to up to ten (10) students.  The maximum amounts awarded are as follows: four (4) scholarships of $1,000 each; four (4) scholarships of $500 each; and two (2) scholarships of $250 each.

AWAG Scholarships!

Deadline: Sunday, March 18th, 2018

The annual AWAG Leadership and Training Conference is coming this SPRING!  AWAG (Americans Working Across the Globe) is an organization that focuses on building leaders to strengthen and connect communities.  This annual conference offers various training sessions that offer participants the opportunity to develop and enhance new leadership and communication skills, to network with other leaders, and to learn new and creative ways to connect with communities.

The Spouses of Aviano would like to introduce you to the AWAG Conference Scholarship.  Six (6) scholarships will be awarded to individuals who meet the requirements, to attend the annual training seminar in Garmisch, Germany! The scholarships cover the conference registration fees, which include lodging and most meals (the scholarships DO NOT cover the cost of transportation, and the accommodations and/or meals traveling to and from the conference).

Requirements     AWAG Scholarships are open to anyone with a DEROS date, no earlier than April 2019.
